Comedian Jeff Dunham Coming To York Fair

Politically incorrect ventiloquist and stand-up comedian Jeff Dunham will perform on the York Fair's Toyota Grandstand Of Stars on Friday, Sept. 14. Jeff Dunham, widely known for controversial characters such as Achmed the Dead Terrorist, will introduce "Little Jeff" and "Achmed Junior" during the tour, said fair general manager Mike Froehlich.
He'll also work with Achmed, Peanut, Walter, Jose' Jalapeno and Bubba J., Froehlich said.
Froehlich said the 7:30 p.m. show is part of the venue's ongoing goal of bringing a diverse range of entertainment to York. Dunham's 2009 appearance in York was sold out, he said.
"We think Jeff Dunham fits the bill for comedy, and it's a great show," he said.
The grandstand will also be home to country and rock music, as well as some family offerings, he said. While Dunham's is the first show announced for the 2012 York Fair, the remainder of the shows will be announced in the early part of the year, Froehlich said.
The fair is marketing the Dunham performance as a good gift idea, as tickets purchased before Aug. 25 include admission to the fair.
Tickets will go on sale at 8 a.m. Dec. 17 and are available at the York Fair Box Office on Carlisle Avenue, by phone at 848-2033 and online at www.yorkfair.com.
The box office will also be open Dec. 19-22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tickets cost $49 for track, plaza and center grandstand and $44 side track, side plaza and side grandstand. There is a processing fee for phone, mail and internet orders.
